It was moved by the Lord Rees-Mogg to resolve, That the House asserts its responsibility for the conduct of its own affairs and that the Sub-Committee of the Committee for Privileges should investigate the effectiveness of the House of Lords’ Register of Interests; then it was moved by the Lord Archer of Sandwell, as an amendment thereto, to leave out from “House” to the end and insert “welcomes the enquiry into Standards of Conduct in the House of Lords by the Committee on Standards in Public Life, and asserts the House’s ultimate responsibility for the conduct of its own affairs.”; which being objected to, the question was put thereupon, and
